So begins my first blog. I decided that what better way to keep my friends and family updated on my experience living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I have taken a job working for the Saudi Red Crescent Authority working in the city of Riyadh as a Paramedic. In order to do this I needed to leave my career of 7 years as a Firefighter Paramedic with Orange County Fire Department in Sunny Orlando Florida. Many of my friends say why would you leave such a secure job working for the fire department? My answer is complicated but I will put it simply, for the betterment of my family and myself. I figure we only have one life to live so I will live this one to the fullest and try to do my best.
That being said I got my itinerary from the SRCA and I will be flying out of Orlando on the 13th of march I leave Orlando at 6:25 and fly into JFK I hold over til 2pm then get on a plane to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia arriving 2pm on the 14th. I will update this blog as frequently as I can so I can keep my friends and family up to date on my experience.
Full speed ahead! My first blog comment is being writing as the love of my life sleeps next to me at 1:15 in the morning. It is so _______ for me that the day of his departure is just around the corner. Wow. Time flies so fast. As some of you may know, Carlos and I have been together for almost 13 years. In that time I have grown to love an ever evolving man -that is always trying to better himself and look towards the next level in life. The sacrifice that we about to ________ is not going to be easy, but our strength as a couple (in shala) will pull us through. (Pause, sleeping forehead kiss). I love this man more than words could ever explain, He is my confidant, lover, best friend, center, the world greatest dad, the worlds greatest husband and I would not trade him for all of the diamonds in the world.
ReplyDelete(uhh, O.K. Im rambling) there is so much to say and alot will be said in the next couple of days. (stealing another kiss) I will end my first entry with a prayer:
Dear Creator,
The future holds a journey for us that we do not know, but I trust in you that the road is protected by your love and guidance. I pray to you that my heart and ears are willing ready and able to hear you messages to guide our every step.
Amen.
Inshallah.
ReplyDeleteI love you guys.
Good Morning Sunshine,
ReplyDeleteAnother Day, another new beginning in the Kingdom.
I know you must be missing that King Size Bed and that morning Bustello coffee and Amira's bright smile and Jazzi poo n her silly self. That room you have sounds pretty small but hey at least you got a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in and some buddies to talk to. SRCR just got a great additon to their team and I am glad you are meeting more Americans. It sounds like a real adventure. I'll be able to write to you Mon-Thurs cause I'm off from work on Fridays and have to get a woking computer, you can bet I will be checking this regulary to make sure my Sun Carlos is O.K. and in good health and spirits. How are you doing with your flu are you all over it? You should be adjusting to the time a bit now. I always re-read this blog and laugh and find something different, hey only you would go out in a sandstorm to ride a 4 wheeler with no brakes, next time bring M&M'S and leave a trail like in ET.(ya right!) I guess in a desert you have very little pointers or markers that you could say it's by this or that, nothing but sand, sure hope you have a compass. Hey don't forget the butter & salt trick if you get banged & brusied up. It sounds like you had a great time though.
Hey I picture you actually flying a plane or something although I do think we have the best aviation schools here but I think thats just an ideal place to fly.
Anyway sweetie have a great day keep us posted n I'll be chit chatting with u every chance I get,(Insh Allah). Now ya have a raving fan here in the Sunshine State.
Much Love La Flor xoxoxoxoxoxoxMMMMWA!
